How to Replace a Mercedes Mass Air Flow Sensor


1. Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable from the negative terminal on the battery.
2. Remove the wiring harness from the mass air flow sensor by pressing in on the tab on the wiring harness and then pulling it out.
3. Unscrew the bolts on the mass air flow sensor using a socket wrench.
4. Remove the screw on the air hose clamps on either side of the mass air flow sensor.
5. Disconnect the hoses and remove the sensor. Replace the old sensor with the new one.
6. Reattach the hoses to the new mass air flow sensor and secure them in place by tightening the screws on the clamps.
7. Bolt the new mass air flow sensor into place.
8. Reattach the wiring harness and reconnect the negative cable to the battery.

How to Tow With a Mercedes ML320


1. Determine the towing capacity of your model and year of ML320. This information can be found in the owners manual. Calculate the total mass of the trailer by adding the weight of the trailer to the cargo. The trailers weight will be printed on the trailer data plate under gross trailer weight.
2. Determine if your Mercedes can tow the trailer by comparing the towing capacity to the total trailer mass. The trailers weight must be less than the towing capacity for a safe trip.
3. Connect the trailers coupler to the vehicles hitch by lowering it on. Lock the coupler in place by lowering the latch and securing it with a hitch pin.
4. Fasten the right trailer chain to the left side of the vehicle hitch and the left trailer chain to the right side. The crossed chains will catch the trailers tongue in the rare circumstance the two become disconnected.
5. Connect the trailers electrical connector to the vehicles electrical receiver by pushing the two together. If the connections do not match, an adapter can be purchased from a trailer store.
6. Drive slower than normal to compensate for the reduced braking and handling. Take corners slower and wider than normal while still maintaining your lane. Remember, when changing lanes, you will need additional space to compensate for the length of the trailer.

How to Remove a Mercedes CD Change Slide Cover


1. Disconnect the Mercedes vehicles battery with a socket wrench. Remove the negative terminal cable first, then the positive cable.
2. Open the drivers side door and locate the two locking tabs on the sides of the Mercedes CD changer.
3. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off both tabs. Slide the screwdriver underneath and lift it upwards to remove the tab.
4. Remove the cover once both tabs are removed. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG is perhaps the most stylish of all Mercedes-inflated but this will not escape with even many tuner snodere plans. Vorsteiner can not wait and sent forward a computer drawing in the world to show what we can expect. Unlike many other projects of the tuner, this promises to be a heavily rebuilt car.

One speaks of itself a light weight pre-preg carbon fiber aero package. A mouthful which somewhat indicates how much work there in the Vorsteiner CLS 63 AMG will sit. Like the Continental GT, the Flying Spurs not really new model developed. A thorough renovation round British pride should keep competitive in this segment where manufacturers can no stabbing drop. How to Change the Battery in a Mercedes 300E


1. Pop the hood and locate the battery. Its on the passenger side of the engine, toward the firewall of the car, in a sectioned-off area to protect it from heat. Use the open-end wrench to remove the negative then the positive terminal on the battery.
2. Unbolt the battery tie down from the battery using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Lift the tie down off, then lift the battery out of the engine compartment. The battery can now be used as a core exchange at your local auto parts store, or taken for recycling.
3. Place the replacement battery in the battery tray. Bolt in the battery tie down using the ratchet, then connect the positive then the negative battery terminals using an open-end wrench.
4. Start the car and allow it to run for 10 to 15 minutes, then turn it off.

How to Maintain the Engine of a Mercedes Benz 420Sel


1. Change the oil and oil filter at least once every 10,000 miles. To do this, first jack up the front end of your Mercedes and set jack stands in place. Lower your Mercedes down on the jacks. Remove the oil plug with your socket set and let the oil drain into your drip pan. Replace the drain plug with your socket set. Remove the old oil filter with your oil filter wrench. Set it aside and then hand thread the new filter in place. Tighten it down with your oil filter wrench. Add 6 quarts of 10-W-40 oil to your Mercedes via the oil fill hole on the right side of the engines manifold.
2. Check all your other fluid levels when you change the oil. These fluids include your transmission fluid, power steering fluid and brake fluid. To check the transmission fluid, start your Mercedes and then remove the transmission fluid dipstick located on the drivers side of the engine block towards the rear of the engine. Wipe the dipstick clean, stick it in and remove it. If you need transmission fluid, turn off your engine, stick a funnel into the filler hole and add the fluid. Replace your dipstick when your are done. The brake fluid reservoir is a round, plastic reservoir located near your transmission fluid dipstick. Remove the cap by twisting it off and read the indicator stick mounted on the inside of the cap. Add fluid if its low. The power steering fluid reservoir is located on the passenger side of the engine block near the belt drive pulley. Remove the cap by twisting it off by hand. It also has an indicator stick mounted on the underside of the lid. If the fluid is low, add it.
3. Check your air filter when you change your oil. The air filter is mounted inside a small box on the top of your engine, towards the back on your 420 SEL. Remove the single screw holding the box in place. Once youve done this, pull the cover off and remove the filter. If it appears dirty, change it.
4. Tune up your Mercedes every 20,000 miles. To do this you should first mark the spark plug wires with a crayon or paper. Number the wires 1 through 8 in the order in which they are mounted on each side of your engine. Since your 420 SEL is a V-8 engine, there will be four plugs located on each side of the engine. Once you have marked the wires in numerical order unplug them by hand from the spark plugs. Use your spark plug wrench to remove the eight plugs. Insert the new ones, tighten them with your spark plug wrench and then attach the spark plug wires in the order you numbered them in before.

How to Rebuild a Mercedes


1. Pop open the hood of your instrument cluster. Remove the bolt on the negative terminal clamp with a socket wrench. Lift the negative cable away from the terminal.
2. Enter your vehicle and use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws which fix the cowl trim around the outside of the instrument cluster. Use your hands to pull the trim away from the dash and place to one side for reattachment later.
3. Locate and then remove the four screws which fix the instrument cluster into the dash. Use your hands to unhook the electrical connector attached to the rear of the cluster. Lift the instrument cluster from the dash and place on your work area.
4. Turn the bulbs in a counterclockwise direction with your hand until they come free from the cluster. Discard the broken bulbs in the trash. Insert the new bulbs in the cluster and attach by turning in a clockwise direction.
5. Reattach the electrical connector to the rear of the cluster. Slide the cluster back in to the dash. Connect the four screws in to the cluster to fix the cluster securely to the dash. Place the cowl trim over the instrument cluster and secure back in place. Lift the negative cable back on the battery terminal and secure in place with the clamp.

How to Reset a Flexible Service System in a Mercedes C280


1998-2002 Vehicles
1. Turn the ignition to the On position but do not start the vehicle.
2. Press the FSS button twice within four seconds. The button may have a 1 or a 0 imprinted on or near it. This will show the days or mileage remaining until the next service is due.
3. Turn the ignition key to the Lock position within 10 seconds. This is one position back from the On position.
4. Depress and hold the FSS button while turning the ignition to the On position. Do not start the vehicle. This will show the days or mileage remaining until service is due again. Continue to hold the button for 10 seconds until you hear a tone. The display will indicate 10,000 miles and 365 days to next service.
5. Release the FSS button and turn the ignition to the Lock position. The reset procedure is now complete.
2003-2007 Vehicles
6. Turn the ignition to the On position but do not start the vehicle.
7. Press the FSS button for about three seconds. The display will read: DO YOU WANT TO RESET THE SERVICE INTERVAL? CONFIRM BY PRESSING R, or it will read, SERVICE INTERVAL? RESET WITH BUTTON.
8. Press and hold the FSS reset button until a tone sounds. The FSS will now display the reset interval.
9. Release the FSS button then turn the ignition off. The reset procedure is now complete.

Kicherer has releases their new Impact program for new Mercedes-Benz ML Class Type 166.

The ‘Impact’ aero kit consists of a new front fascia with larger intakes and LED daytime running lights, wheel arch extensions, side skirts and a rear bumper apron with integrated diffuser and apertures for the twin-double trapezoidal tailpipes. The factory wheels have made way for Kicherer’s own RS2 items in a 22-inch diameter, while the ride height drops by around 25 mm thanks to the fitment of an electronic lowering module.

On the inside, the Germans offer the choice between Nappa leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber.

The release of the body kit is planned for the summer of 2012.

Mercedes Benz Door Lock Cylinder Replacement


1. Locate your nearest Mercedes Benz dealer and purchase the specific ignition lock cylinder for your year and model of vehicle.
2. Check your owners and maintenance manuals for useful tips pertaining to your specific Mercedes model.
3. Disconnect the battery and wait at least 15 minutes before removing the cylinder.
4. Extend the steering wheel as far out as possible and push the drivers seat back as far as it will go. This will help you access the ignition.
5. Place your key in the ignition and place a pointed object, such as the end of a paperclip, into the small hole to the left of the ignition.
6. Turn your key to the Acc position and ensure that the paperclip is as far into the hole as it will go.
7. Pull on the clip and key simultaneously, and the ignition cylinder will slide out.
8. Unplug the electric switch from the back of the cylinder and plug it into the back of the replacement cylinder. Slide the new cylinder into place. Reconnect the battery and test the ignition cylinder.

How to DIY Troubleshoot a Mercedes


1. Inspect the paintwork for damage. Scratches, dents and corrosion can all be indicative of greater damage elsewhere. Any scratch on the paint can be expensive, because Mercedes often used limited run paints (restricted to certain cars and years of manufacture). Paint needs to be repaired soon, as it can lead to early rust. Any dents in the body panel could mean that the Mercedes was in an accident and could have frame damage underneath. If there is corrosion in the panel then it is guaranteed that there is rust elsewhere, especially on the undercarriage.
2. Open the hood and inspect the engine. There should be no debris in the engine bay or radiator. If your Mercedes is a carbureted model, then inspect the barrel intakes for damage to the valves. Damaged carburetor valves can lead to irregular air-fuel mixes that can damage your piston or sleeves. If your engine is fuel injected, then inspect the fuel lines for leaks (pay special attention to the rubber hoses, as they have a tendency to become brittle with age). Inspect the power lines on the hybrid model for any damage (do not touch damaged ones). Call a Mercedes dealership to repair a hybrid model.
3. Turn the car on and listen to it idle. The hybrid Mercedes should not run the engine while the car is sitting still, only when under power. Non-hybrids should idle around 2000 rpm (if it idles higher than this, there may be a problem with the fuel-air mix). Watch the engine temperature. Even on a hot day, the engine should remain cool in idle.
4. Drive the Mercedes forward and listen for the engine. AMG models should roar when the throttle is pushed in, even at sedate speeds. Non-AMG models should be whisper quiet, even at highway speeds (if you hear the engine, then some of the noise isolation material has fallen off). Mercedes prides itself on providing quiet interiors on their regular cars. The car should easily absorb any bumps in the road. If the car rocks a lot then the shocks may be shot.
