1. Walk around the front of your BMW and open the hood.
2. Locate the fuel injectors on top of the engine. You will see one injector per cylinder--four injectors on the left and four on the right.
3. Grab a piece of paper and pencil and write down the numbers 4, 3, 2, and 1 on a single column to the left of the paper. Make sure there is some space on top and bottom of this column.
4. Write down the numbers 8, 7, 6, and 5 on a single column to the right of the first column of numbers.
5. Write down the word rear on top of the two columns of numbers, and the word front at the bottom of the two columns of numbers.
6. Grab your piece of paper with the two columns of numbers and stand in front of the engine, facing the drive belt. If you look at your notes on the piece of paper, the two columns of numbers represent the cylinder numbers in your BMW 740i. The word rear represents the back of the engine and the front represents the front of the engine, which you are facing right now.
7. Label each of the fuel injectors using a piece of masking tape and a black marker, according to the numbers you have assigned to the each cylinder.

1. Locate the small plastic caps on the sides of the stereo and pop them out of place using a thumbnail or fingernail. Use the BMW anti-theft stereo removal tool to unscrew the bolts holding the stereo to the dashboard.
2. Slide the stereo out of the dashboard and unplug the antenna lead from the back of the deck.
3. Place a flathead screwdriver between the plastic wire harness lock on the back of the stereo and the deck itself, and pry the lock up to remove it from the stereo. Pull the wiring harness off of the deck, using your hands.

1. Drive the car somewhere out of the way, or tow it if the wastegate is broken. Driving a turbocharged car with a damaged wastegate can seriously damage the turbocharger and the engine. Place the car in park and turn off the car. Pull the hood release latch and then prop the hood up with the prop stick. Disconnect the black wire from the car battery to ensure that the cars circuits are dead.
2. Locate the wastegate valve on the turbine side of the turbocharger. The wastegate is a small metal valve bolted onto the turbochargers exhaust feeder pipes. Disconnect the control wire from the wastegate and place it to the side. Use a wrench to unbolt the two bolts that secure the old wastegate to the turbocharger. Pull the wastegate out, being careful not to scrape the sides of the hole.
3. Slide the new wastegate into the hole on the exhaust feeder pipe. Slide in the bolts and screw them down by hand. Once both bolts are down, wrench them down flush with a wrench. Plug in the control wire into the side of the wastegate. Make sure there is no packing material stuck in the valve. Reconnect the black wire on the car battery and then shut the hood. Turn on the car and take it for a test drive.

1. Park the 325 Xi, and turn off the engine. Open the vehicles hood.
2. Release the lamp cover above the headlamp assemblies. For the high beams, press downward and remove. For the low beam, rotate the cover cap to the left. Once the lamp covers are removed, the bulbs can be accessed.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb sockets. Unhook the wire spring by swinging it out. Remove the old bulb, and push the new bulb into place until it clicks. Do not handle the glass of the new bulb with your bare hand. Use the clean cloth to wipe down the replacement bulb before installing it.
4. Reattach the wire spring and electrical connector. Place the lamp covers over the headlamp assemblies. Close the hood.

1. Acquire a cassette tape adapter (if the vehicle has a tape player in it, as many older BMW models do). You can purchase this handy little device for around $20 at most electronics, audio or department stores. Simply insert the plug into the headphone jack and put the tape into the tape player to transport the sound from the iPod through the tape deck and subsequently out of the BMWs speakers.
2. Purchase an FM transmitter. This small broadcaster plugs into the iPod and transmits the audio within a small radius, allowing the antenna on the vehicle to receive it and play it on an empty FM radio station. (An empty station has either complete, or nearly complete, static; this means no radio stations are broadcasting locally on that particular frequency, making it open for FM transmitters to use.)
3. Have an auxiliary cable wired into the BMWs stereo by a car audio specialist. This small cable will run from the internal guts of the stereo into the cabin of the vehicle, allowing you to insert it into the headphone jack of the iPod and play it through the stereos auxiliary input.
4. Bring the vehicle to a car audio specialist and ask to have an iPod integration dock installed. This option will prove the most, but some car stereos allow you to plug a small adapter into the data dock on the iPod and use a digital display on the stereo to cycle through the iPods menu and operate it in almost the same way as if you were holding the iPod in your hand. (Note that this option may require a full replacement of the BMWs stereo.)

A powerful flashlight will help to locate motor mounts in difficult-to-see areas.
Block the wheels with the wheel chocks to prevent movement of the vehicle either forward or backward. Raise the hood of the vehicle and use the flashlight to locate the motor mounts. Motor mounts will be located in various locations above and below the engine and transmission depending on the specific model.
2. Examine the motor mounts for signs of damage. The rubber blocks in the motor mounts can crack, split, or show other damage that will require replacement. Examine hydraulic mounts for signs of fluid leakage, corrosion or other damage. The mounting plates that secure the mounts to the vehicles frame may also corrode or break.
3. Have the assistant start the vehicle. While you stand off to the side of the vehicle to observe the engine, have the assistant depress and hold the brake pedal and shift the car into drive. Watch the engine for rapid or excessive movement. The engine should move less than ½ an inch when placed into gear. A banging noise may also be a sign of a faulty motor mount.

Shifting the car between drive and reverse will cause the engine to move.
Have the assistant place the vehicle in reverse and again watch for movement or noise. Have the assistant place the car back into park and turn off the vehicle.
5. Use pry bar to flex motor mounts. Any looseness in the mount will require replacement of the motor mount.
6. Use the pry par to check for play between the motor mount and the mounting surface of the engine or transmission. Play between the motor mount and mounting surface may be a result of bolts that come loose.

1. Lift the wiper arm and wiper off the windshield. Pushing the small retaining clip, remove the wiper blade assembly from the arm. If you are having trouble releasing the clips, use a small blade screwdriver as a pry. Gently return the arm back to the windshield.
2. Locate and release the retaining clip or pin that holds the insert onto the blade frame assembly. If there is no retaining clip, use a pair of needle nose pliers to gently bend the retaining point up so the insert can slide out. Slide the insert with the two metal shafts on either side off the blade frame.
3. Install the new insert with the metal shafts on both sides by sliding one end into the first blade frame retaining point. Slowly guide the insert and metal shafts into all of the retaining points until it is fully inserted into all of the blade insert holders. There may be 6 or more blade insert holders.
4. Reattach the retaining clip or bend the retaining point back. Check that the insert will not slide out of the wiper blade assembly.
5. Pick up the wiper arm from the windshield and position the wiper blade assembly on the shaft of the arm. Push with steady pressure until it snaps into place. Gently return the wiper blade and arm to the windshield.

1. Shut the engine off and remove the key from the ignition cylinder. Step out of your ML-320 and close the door.
2. Press the "Unlock" button on your keyless entry remote. Grasp the edge of the fuel filler door and pull it toward the front of the ML-320.The fuel filler door locking mechanism is controlled by the keyless entry remote. If using the remote does not unlock the fuel filler door, the system may be malfunctioning. Proceed to the emergency release procedure.
3. Open the rear cargo hatch. Locate the plastic cargo door on the drivers side of the cargo compartment. Turn the two knobs counterclockwise to remove the door and access the fuel filler door lock rod.
4. Turn the lock rod counterclockwise to line up the arrows. This will manually unlock the fuel filler door. Pull it open with your hand.

1. Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable from the negative terminal on the battery.
2. Remove the wiring harness from the mass air flow sensor by pressing in on the tab on the wiring harness and then pulling it out.
3. Unscrew the bolts on the mass air flow sensor using a socket wrench.
4. Remove the screw on the air hose clamps on either side of the mass air flow sensor.
5. Disconnect the hoses and remove the sensor. Replace the old sensor with the new one.
6. Reattach the hoses to the new mass air flow sensor and secure them in place by tightening the screws on the clamps.
7. Bolt the new mass air flow sensor into place.
8. Reattach the wiring harness and reconnect the negative cable to the battery.

BMW Flash Cards
1.
Visit your local car dealership for vehicle information.
Gather information about BMWs from a local BMW dealership, magazine advertisements or BMW.com.
2.
Cut photos from colorful brochures for fun-looking flash cards.
Cut out photos of BMW models, accessories and colors you want to learn about or would like to be able to identify. Cut out the text that matches the photos and keep it with the correct photos.
3. Attach each photo to one side of an index card with glue. On the other side of the same index card, attach the text that matches the photos.
4.
Memorize the information with flash cards.
Gather all the index cards into a pile. Look at the picture on the first card and read the corresponding text on the back of the card. Try to commit the information to memory.
5. Move through the whole pile of cards, memorizing BMW facts.
6. Quiz yourself by looking at the picture side of the card and reciting the facts. Check your answer by looking at the other side of the card.

Match two photos of BMW headlights.
Cut out at least 20 different photos of BMWs and accessories from brochures at a local BMW dealership or print out pictures from BMW.com. Be sure to cut out two identical copies of each photo for a total of 40 photos.
8.
Glue photos to cards or print directly onto the cards.
Glue each photo to individual index cards and gather the cards into a pile once dry.
9.
Play memory with your friends.
Lay the cards face down in front of you and a friend in four rows of five cards.
10. Take turns flipping over pairs of cards and making matches. If you make a match, keep the match and take another turn. If you do not make a match, turn the cards back over to the face down position.
11. Win the game by finishing with the most pairs once all cards have been collected.

1. Turn off the engine and jack up the front of the vehicle using your car jack. Wrap plastic wrap around the power steering pump and the belt surfaces surrounding it. The power steering pump is located directly under the steering wheel and is cylindrical in shape. Open the reservoir, located on the left side of the pump, and use a syringe to remove the fluid inside. Puncture the reservoir with the syringe and slowly pull back the syringe to extract the fluid. Continue by opening the M16 banjo fitting on the pump itself and allow the remainder of the fluid to drip down into a pan below.
2. Turn the key in the ignition to release the steering wheel from a locked position. Slowly rotate the wheel to drain any remaining fluid that may be stuck up closer to the wheel itself. Remove the hollow bolt (the fastener composed of a threaded bolt and a spring) with your wrench and install the new crush waters onto the banjo fitting by tightening them into place. Crush waters are doughnut-shaped fastening devices that hold the banjo fitting in place. Torque the banjo fitting until it reaches approximately 40 nanometers (Nm).
3. Remove the plastic from the accessory belt and refill the reservoir with power steering fluid. Make sure to keep the fluid levels between the minimum and maximum guidelines. Rotate the wheel slowly from one side to the other. As the wheel turns, the fluid levels in the reservoir will drop as the fluid is being moved up closer to the wheel. Continue to fill the reservoir until the fluid level is once again between minimum and maximum. Place the reservoir cap back on and tighten until it is firmly in place.
4. Start the engine of the vehicle and slowly rotate the wheel from one side to the other. Repeat ten times and return the wheel to the center before turning the engine off. Reopen the reservoir and check the dipstick to ensure that the fluid levels are still above the minimum.
5. Lower the car from the jack by pressing the downward arrow button on the car jacks control system. If the dipstick shows that the fluid levels are still above the minimum, the car is safe to drive as soon as it has been removed from the jack.

1. Research online and at auto shops to find paint and lacquer products that match BMW factory alloys. Purchase the silver spray wheel paint and high-gloss clear lacquer that is compatible with your BMW.
2. Open the utility compartment in the trunk of your BMW to retrieve the wheel lock needed to loosen the lug nuts on your tires. Raise your car using a jack stand. Loosen the lug nuts, using the wheel lock to remove each tire. Place each tire aside in preparation for the rim-cleaning process.
3. Pour paint thinner onto your rims and use a cloth to wipe off grease, brake dust and grime so that the surface is clean. Wait five minutes for the paint thinner to dry.
4. Locate the areas of the rims that are damaged from chipping. Pour auto body filler onto a putty knife and apply it to the damaged areas. Wait approximately 10-15 minutes until the body filler becomes dry to the touch.
5. Sand the auto body filler with100 grit sandpaper. Sand using the 200 grit paper once the 100 grit has worn down. Sand using the 400 grit sandpaper once the 200 grit has worn down and until the auto body filler becomes even with the surface of the rim. Wipe the rims with water and a clean cloth to remove sand and dust. Dry the rims with a clean cloth.
6. Place painters tape around the outside of your rims so that it is between the crevice of the tire and the rim, protecting your tires from rim paint. Tape newspaper around your tires so that only the rims are exposed.
7. Spray three coats of silver wheel paint on the areas of the rims that you applied auto body filler to, allowing 30 minutes between coats.
8. Wait 30 minutes until the last coat of silver wheel paint has dried. Spray the high-gloss clear lacquer on the damaged areas. Repeat this process three times, allowing 30 minutes for each coat to dry.
9. Remove all newspaper and painters tape from your tires. Re-mount the wheels on your BMW.

1. Determine the towing capacity of your model and year of ML320. This information can be found in the owners manual. Calculate the total mass of the trailer by adding the weight of the trailer to the cargo. The trailers weight will be printed on the trailer data plate under gross trailer weight.
2. Determine if your Mercedes can tow the trailer by comparing the towing capacity to the total trailer mass. The trailers weight must be less than the towing capacity for a safe trip.
3. Connect the trailers coupler to the vehicles hitch by lowering it on. Lock the coupler in place by lowering the latch and securing it with a hitch pin.
4. Fasten the right trailer chain to the left side of the vehicle hitch and the left trailer chain to the right side. The crossed chains will catch the trailers tongue in the rare circumstance the two become disconnected.
5. Connect the trailers electrical connector to the vehicles electrical receiver by pushing the two together. If the connections do not match, an adapter can be purchased from a trailer store.
6. Drive slower than normal to compensate for the reduced braking and handling. Take corners slower and wider than normal while still maintaining your lane. Remember, when changing lanes, you will need additional space to compensate for the length of the trailer.

1. Disconnect the Mercedes vehicles battery with a socket wrench. Remove the negative terminal cable first, then the positive cable.
2. Open the drivers side door and locate the two locking tabs on the sides of the Mercedes CD changer.
3. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off both tabs. Slide the screwdriver underneath and lift it upwards to remove the tab.
4. Remove the cover once both tabs are removed. Installation is the reverse of removal.

1. Purchase a leather cleaner with a pH balance from 5 to 5.5. Any higher pH balance, and you risk removing the tanning agents. Make sure that the leather is cool before cleaning
2. Dip a Microfiber cloth into water, until it is damp. Spray leather cleaner directly on the cloth. Clean one section of the car at a time, such as the drivers seat back. Wash gently, being certain to clean out the stitch lines. Dirt left in stitching can erode the thread, and cause the upholstery to rip apart over time. Use a soft leather brush on stained or especially dirty areas.
3. Rinse the washcloth thoroughly before moving on to clean another section. Wring out the cloth. Spray more leather cleaner on the cloth and move on to new section. Use a clean, dry towel to wipe down the leather after cleaning.
4. Make sure the car is more than 90 days old before applying leather conditioner since new cars will still have factory conditioned leather. Dip a clean Microfiber cloth in water. Spray a small amount of leather conditioner directly on the cloth. Wipe on leather lightly. Wait 30 minutes. Use a clean Microfiber cloth to lightly buff the leather. Make sure there is no excess conditioner remaining on the leather.

1. Open your hood and locate the air filter box and intake tube. Turbo models will feature a heftier intake that attaches to the turbocharger, while naturally aspirated engines have intake that attaches to only the throttle body.
2. Disconnect the electrical wiring, hoses and mass air flow meter that attach to the factory intake tube and set aside for use with the new intake system. Unfasten the hardware that holds the intake tube in place and remove slowly, careful not to spill any debris. If necessary, use a flat-head screwdriver to assist you in removing the intake tube.
3. Unscrew the bolts that hold the stock air filter box into place. Remove this factory intake box completely and dispose of it properly, as you will not need the filter or its housing box for the new install.
4. Check the new intake tube and count the number of holes that are drilled into the side. If there are more holes than hoses that attached to the old setup, plug the unnecessary holes with the grommets that came with your intake kit.
5. Attach the new intake tube to your A4 directly as the old one was removed. This part will mimic the old intake tube in design and functionality, while the filter itself will be positioned differently and provide better performance. Secure the intake tube with the silicone coupling that came with your cold air intake kit. There should also be a clamp ring that came with your kit to hold the silicone coupling and intake tube into place.
6. Attach the downward piece of the intake tubing system to the newly installed tube from Step 5. By this point, the intake tube should extend to the front of the engine bay and underneath the front of the car. The cold air will come in through the bottom of the front side of the vehicle, increasing horespower and fuel efficiency in your Audi A4.
7. Spray down the new air filter with the necessary lubricant before installing. Position the cone air filter that was provided in the cold air intake kit onto the downward intake tube. Tighten the clamp fitted around the cone filter to secure into place. Reconnect any remaining hoses and wiring that were removed at this time.

1. Purchase a free-flow air filter for your BMW model from a local or online aftermarket retailer. Locate the air filter case under the hood. The air filter case is usually a black plastic box that sits closer the windshield of the car.
2. Unclamp the lid and open it. Lift the current air filter out of the case and toss in the trash. Clean the inside of the box with a damp cloth or paper shop towel. Input the new filter and clamp the lid shut.
3. Purchase a new digitized motor electronic (DME) computer system chip. Disconnect the battery. Locate the DME compartment on the right side wall inside your BMW engine compartment. Gently snap out the rubber brads and peel back the foam casing surrounding the hard case protecting the computer system. Unscrew the four case screws that pin the hard case closed.
4. Pull out the DME box. Disconnect the tether and two clamps holding it in place. Unscrew the four screws on the box to open. Put on your static wrist strap. Carefully pop off the white case that is on the circuit board. Note the direction that the small divot faces on the DME chip. Gently pry the DME performance chip off of the circuit board with a flat head screwdriver.
5. Snap new performance chip into place. Replace the white plastic cover, the circuit board cover and screws. Reattach the DME to its tether and clips and reinsert in the BMW compartment where it belongs. Screw the compartment closed and recover with the BMW casing.

1. Drive the Audi Allroad somewhere where there is ample room in the rear to load the seats, and enough room for the trunk lid to open fully. Place the Audi in Park and pull the parking brake to keep it in place.
2. Turn the Allroad off and go to the rear. Open the trunk lid and extend it fully. Remove any items you have in the rear of the Audi. Fold the back seats down for additional maneuvering room, by pulling up the latches on either side of the rear seat, and then pushing the seat backs down.
3. Lift the third row bench seat up and slide it into the rear of the Audi with the seats facing the rear. If the third row bench is too heavy for you, then have an assistant help you. Align the bolt holes on the bottom runners with the four bolt holes in the floor. A flashlight can be very helpful.
4. Drop a bolt into each bolt hole and rotate them down by hand. Once all the bolts are in place, wrench the bolts down, until they are flush with the bolt holes. Push on the seat to make sure it does not budge under pressure.
5. Close the rear of the Audi, fold the rear seats back up, and turn the car on. Take the Audi for a test drive and listen for any creaks in the third row that would indicate looseness. Have the assistant ride in the third row to check this as well.

1. Press the NAV button on the MMI console to open up the navigation function on your Audi.
2. Use the control knob to scroll to and highlight Cancel Route Guidance.
3. Press down on the control knob to select Cancel Route Guidance. The destination will be removed from the navigation system and you will no longer receive direction prompts from the MMI system.

1. Pop the hood of your BMW and disconnect the battery terminals. Sit in the drivers seat and lower the steering wheel to its lowest position within the steering column.
2. Locate the bezel around the outskirts of the instrument cluster. This can come in either plastic or rubber. Remove the two screws attached to the bezel with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the bezel out of the dashboard.
3. Remove the three mounting screws which fix the instrument cluster to the dashboard. Slide the panel out and remove the battery connector from the rear. You can either pull it out with your hand or use a screwdriver to pop it out.
4. Pull the instrument cluster fully out of the dashboard. Clean the space left in the dashboard with a cloth to ensure there is no dust or debris, which can get into the instrument cluster.
5. To reattach the instrument cluster or insert a new one, install the cluster following the removal steps in reverse.
